Abstract

A mosel trial run using molasses to represent high organic content of 40.000 mg/l was simulated using a detention time of 24, 30, 48, and 72 hours with a ratio of suspended growth to the attached growth of 1 : 2. The simulation showed that the substrate removal relied on the contact time and initial VSS concentration. The laboratory result went inaccurate with the simulation with difference of 11,67 % and 26,67 % for COD and VSS, respectively. The efficiency difference between the laboratory result and the model was 25 %.
