Abstract
Capability of cellulose acetate membrane was tested in water treatment process as low-pressure membrane with 0.01 – 10 mm pore size could remove suspended solids, oil, bacteria, and other impurities from raw water. The results showed that the operational pressure, pH, SS concentration, and operational period influenced microfiltration process. Maximum rejection efficiency of Escherichia coli bacteria was 99.996% at 1.00 Kg/Cm2 operation pressure, 99.999% at pH 6,and 99.998% at SS concentration of 100 mg/L. Maximum fluxes were 82.032 L/m2hour at 1.25 Kg/Cm2 operational pressure, 68.074 L/m2hour at pH 2, and 65.250 L/m2hour at SS concentration of 20 mg/L SS.
