Abstract
The UAF is an attached growth biology treatment reactor where the organic degrading bacterial growth is attached on the surface of media. The results showed that detention time change effected the reactor efficiency on decreasing COD, TSS concentration and colour of liquid waste from wood carving industry. The best efficiency on decreasing COD, TSS concentration and colour of liquid waste from wood carving industry were at the reactor that operated with 16 hours of detention time and 1.176 kg COD/m3.day of average organic loading. The decreasing COD, TSS concentration and colour of liquid waste from wood carving industry that resulted were 70,1% to 75,9%, 72,4% to 80,9% and 70,1% to 72,3%, respectively.
