Abstract

The study used Scirpus grossus L.f.  plant to treat that wastewater with Hydraulic Loading Rate (HLR) variations were 100 l/m2.day and 200 l/m2.day and influent cooncentrations COD 215-275 mg/l and 490-498 mg/l. The parameters analysed were BOD, COD, TSS, Nitrogen and pH and specially total Ammonia for crumb rubber industrial- wastewater.  The wastewater treatment had relative high removal efficiency of contaminants for  BOD5 82-98%, COD 87-97%, TSS 78-92%, total nitrogen 90 -93% and  total ammonia 87-91%. In general removal efficiencies of contaminants in crumb rubber industrial wastewater, except total nitrogen, were higher compared to those of hotel wastewater. The optimum HLR and COD influent were 100 l/m2.day and 215-275 mg/l.
